Have you seen this new TLC show called "Property Ladder"? I love it! The people buy a house, renovate it, and sell it right away for a big profit. It's fdun to watch how they do the renovations and what actually makes a place worth more. Of course, it's even more fun when they screw things up or miss deadlines and get all stressed

miki, it's funny you mentioned that. i saw it and it's really intriguing and i've been thinking about it lately. calling the mortgage company tomorrow as a matter of fact to see what i can and can't do.

I think it sounds like a brilliant plan. One of Andy's high school friends is doing it. He is an archetect, and last I knew he was looking for a place to renovate. I wish I had the money to do something like that! AND that I lived in an area where real estate sells so quickly.

No, i think it's a great idea. Especially if you can do the work yourself, which shouldn't be too hard. I think it would be fun too.

well, i don't have much experience regarding real estate. I'm no Miki and haven't bought a home since 87. But I DO have lots of experience in improving a home (you should have seen my little whole when we bought this place).
I will not be like the guy on TV the other night. He spent MONTHS doing the work on his own and paying $3,300 extra each month for the priviledge of spending his weekends killing himself to get stuff done instead of spending $2,000 to pay an expert to get a project done in a week, thus saving quite a lot. Other than painting, I would simply co-ordinate the plumber, tile guy, etc. As eh has been in the building business his whole life, he is quite expert in the field and has told me he will consult all I want regarding contracts, scheduling consulting, etc. He thinks I will be good at this. Who knows? He could just be bs-ing me to be nice. *shrugs* |

Wow, with those connections, it seems like you'd be a pro at this! Good for you! Of course, the quicker you can sell it again, the better, but you don't want to spend all your profit on the pros. Maybe they'll give you a good deal because of your connections.
YAY for you! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
